Comprehensive Occupational Therapy Assessments

This is a 1:1 evaluation at your Bay Area home or your child’s school. Includes interviews with parents and teachers, standardized tests, and parent report forms. This takes from 2-8 hours and may be done over one or several days. A written report will be provided. Recommendations are made and goals for treatment are developed with your family. This is a critical first step in your child’s treatment program.

Individual Treatments

Therapeeps individual treatments focus on your child’s individual profile. We know that your child is a unique individual and we honor their individual characteristics to guide our treatments.
We provide child led play based sessions to guide and design a program that is right for you and your family. As Occupational Therapists, our unique lens will address the underlying skills important in everyday participation of home, school, and play.

Self Regulation and Sensory Processing Treatment

The term “sensory processing” refers to a person’s ability to take in sensory input from their environment and organize it in a meaningful, purposeful way of use. Children who have sensory processing disorders have difficulty with the intake of sensory information, and therefore may have difficulty with self-regulation, motor skills, social skills, self-care skills, and or motor planning abilities.

Children who have Sensory Processing Disorders are often seen as controlling, defiant, bossy, or prone to frequent meltdowns. On the other end of the spectrum, these kids can appear disinterested, clumsy, unable to participate in play and everyday living skills, or unable to engage in learning new skills.

Therapeeps knows that as Dr. Ross Green says, “children do well when they can”.

We work with you and your child through child-led and play-based activities, helping you connect with your child through a relationship-focused approach called Floortime. This method considers your child’s individual profile to form warm connections and help them thrive.

Our Treatment Services

Fine motor skills are essential for everyday living — playing with toys, drawing, self-care, shoe tying, and using utensils. They result from neurological, muscular, sensory, and cognitive processes.

Through play-based and standardized assessment focusing on hand and tool use, Therapeeps clinicians create an individualized treatment plan that considers your child’s personal interests.

Some children have coordination difficulties or developmental differences that impact running, jumping, sports, or riding a bike.

Therapeeps clinicians identify specific challenges and create an individualized program that encourages participation in the activities your child enjoys — from play and sports to recess and recreational activities.

Children with sensory processing or motor difficulties may struggle with eating. Feeding therapy helps children consume a diet with sufficient calories to support healthy growth. Common challenges include difficulty managing bites, chewing, managing food textures (gagging, vomiting, refusals), or a very limited variety of accepted foods.

In collaboration with the child’s physician, Therapeeps assesses oral motor skills (chewing, tongue use, lip and cheek use), observes mealtime, interviews caregivers, and reviews a three-day food diary.

An action plan is developed in collaboration with the child’s full feeding team — pediatrician, dietician, speech therapist, or other specialists — to guide the family toward success.

Based on your child’s individual assessment and sensory needs, Therapeeps provides recommended tools and resources to help you create a sensory space right in your Bay Area home. This includes toys, games, and specialized equipment tailored to your child’s individual needs — which can significantly impact their progress and set up a lifetime of success.

Parent coaching is an evidence-based model where parents receive intensive, relationship-based coaching. Therapeeps clinicians consider the child’s individual sensory profile to provide guidance for developing motor skills and social relationships. Sessions can be done in person in the Bay Area or via teletherapy.

The process begins with an interview and may include parent questionnaires. Video observations of play or skill areas may also be included.
