TheraPeeps

A Mobile Pediatric Occupational Therapy Service in Mountain View and Santa Cruz, California.

Our Mission is to build upon a child's strengths and individual differences to promote independence in their daily life. We provide a holistic approach and work in conjunction with parents, teachers, and health practitioners to create the best treatment plan for every child.

What is Pediatric Occupational Therapy?

An occupational therapist is a healthcare provider who works with people to help them attain everyday living skills, such as bathing, dressing, playing, learning, and socializing.

A pediatric occupational therapist specializes in working with infants and children who have special needs. These may include challenges such as traumatic brain injuries, cerebral palsy, ADHD, autism, feeding disorders, learning difficulties such as dysgraphia. A pediatric occupational therapist trained in a subspecialty of sensory processing looks at the whole child as an individual within their environment. This may be in their home, school, or community. They work to remediate skills that are impacting them in their everyday functioning.

TheraPeeps provides occupational therapy to children and families throughout the Mountain View and Santa Cruz California.

Meet our team,

Brooke is a Bay Area and Santa Cruz pediatric occupational therapist whose love for working with children began when she was in grade school helping her mom care for special-needs children.

As a mother of two, she is passionate about helping empower parents. Brooke helps Bay Area and Santa Cruz parents navigate what can be an overwhelming landscape of teachers, doctors, and clinics to provide a customized holistic treatment program for each unique child.

Brooke specializes in in-home therapy, and addresses the whole child, including their environment, culture, family, school, routines, and play. Using this “whole child” lens, she customizes a program to fit a child’s unique needs within their home, school, and community.

Brooke has a degree in Occupational Therapy and certifications in: Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), Sensory Integration and Praxis Test Certification (SIPT), STAR Level 1, DIR/FCD Model CL1 and CL2, Sequential Oral Sensory feeding approach (SOS), and Integrated Listening Systems (iLs).  Brooke partakes in ongoing mentoring with DIR/Floortime Profectum Foundation therapists and STAR therapists to maintain the most up to date practice in occupational Therapy.

Self Regulation is the cornerstone to early childhood development. As a matter of fact, self regulation is the number one predictor to academic success in children ages 3 to 5 years old. The ability to self regulate is not something that you’re born with. You mean, my kid doesn’t come with a self regulation button?...

An important early fine motor milestone that children develop is the ability to feed themselves with utensils. Toddlers typically start using a spoon for eating between the ages of 10-12 months (CDC). A child will continue to develop towards increasingly effective use of a wide variety of eating utensils for self feeding as they get...
What is Reciprocal Play? Reciprocal play occurs when your child is engaged with another person and participating in some kind of back and forth action or exchange. A classic example of this is peek-a-boo! When your child covers their face and then pops out, you reciprocate with a surprised face and “peek-a-boo”! You initiate the...
