“I had the pleasure of working with Brooke Olson for about 5 years when we both worked at Rady Childrens Hospital KidSTART program in San Diego, me as the team child psychiatrist and Brooke as the team occupational therapist. Brooke is amazing with the children and families she works with. She does such a wonderful job explaining a child’s fine motor and sensory needs to the families and helping each family develop a treatment plan that works for their child, taking feedback from the parents and children and making adjustments along the way. She has so many tools in her occupational therapy toolbelt and she does an amazing job thinking outside of the box to develop treatment plans that work in people’s busy schedules and take into account child and family preferences. During my time working with her, I learned so much about how to assess for sensory needs in my patients and talk with families about how occupational therapy could be a nice addition to the treatment plan for children with various mental health concerns like anxiety, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorder. She is one of the best occupational therapists I have had a chance to work with!”
