Volunteers or OT service hours:

Our Volunteer Mentorships offer meaningful, hands-on learning experiences for students interested in occupational therapy or related professions as a future career. These positions provide opportunities to gain volunteer hours—often referred to as “shadowing”—to support your OT school applications. We dedicate significant time to mentor and train our volunteers, helping you develop skills and confidence to strengthen your candidacy for your top-choice OT programs. We also love celebrating our volunteers’ growth with personalized, glowing letters of recommendation!

Volunteers serve a minimum of 2 hours per week, shadowing the therapist leading an outdoor therapy group of 4–5 children. To provide consistency for the children, we ask that volunteers commit to weekly attendance for at least a semester, though a full school year is preferred. Volunteers may also participate in multiple groups to accrue hours more quickly.

Students are responsible for tracking their own hours, maintaining a consistent schedule, and demonstrating professionalism throughout their service. Prior to beginning, volunteers must complete an application, pass a background check, and participate in our volunteer training program.

We accept Volunteer Mentorship applications on a rolling basis and reach out to applicants as openings come available.
